English Majors’ Perceptions of Chinese-English Translation Learning and Translation Competence

Translation is an indispensable language activity and communication method. from Chinese to foreign languages, especially English, significant tell stories well, growing into urgent issue in China. While cultivating translation talents crucial, competence a complicated system consisting of various sub competences. To improve English majors’ Chinese-English (C-E) competence, it necessary first investigate their perceptions C-E learning competence. Based on the preliminary mastery status quo this research sheds insight pedagogy. This paper presented: How do majors perceive competence? answer question, study adopted survey design that was quantitative applied instrument two questionnaires. The multiple-choice questionnaire learning, five-Likert scale seek self-perceived carried out 2022 among 125 at Zaozhuang University, results showed most participants recognized importance primary purpose enhance bilingual proficiency, texts they were interested translating practical styles diverse topics Furthermore, more than half held active involvement teachers learners over 85% affirmed effect group individual learning. It found mean score 2.87.
